I recently did a shoot for LA Waterkeeper's RAFT (River Assesment Fieldwork Team). They are supported by the California Coastkeeper Alliance and the Waterkeeper Alliance, all of which work to protect everyone's right to clean water.
LA Waterkeeper was founded in 1993. Their mission is to protect our waterways and watersheds using all sorts of tools, including litigation and advocacy. Through their Watershed program they monitor pollution levels that are affecting LA streams, rivers, and beaches. Their trained volunteers learn how to measure water quality including bacteria and metals.
It was inspiring for me to see these people volunteer their time and come together to learn about this important issue, and contribute towards making this mostly water-covered planet as clean and sustainable as we can!
